LDA FULL TEACHER-TRAINING COURSE

The LDA have designed a comprehensive and professional training program that creates competent, confident and truly effective teachers.

The full program covers everything needed to become confident in your ability to demonstrate clear, safe dance moves. You will be equipped with the most currently revered teaching pedagogy (both theoretical / and conceptual teaching methods), optimal ways of structuring a class, safety and legal requirements, musicality and tempo. etc

The course is designed for Salsa Teachers or Assistants ('class demonstrators' are also considered Assistants) currently lacking an accredited qualification or wishing to improve skills and progress their career. Highly experienced advanced dancers are also welcome however we ALWAYS advise gaining some teaching experience either before or during the course. This training relies on both theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching.

All essential aspects needed for teaching are covered over 6 modules. LDA certification is given upon each successfully passed module. These certificates are extremely useful for career path development as they clearly detail which fundamentals have been covered.

Should students wish to gain the ISTD accredited qualification, they must sit an examination however this is optional. We do advise that an ISTD certification further re-inforces teaching credibity however this MUST BE BOOKED SEPARATELY through the ISTD at an additional cost.

Following the LDA's full syllabus, trainees attend for one weekend per month and focus on a specific area of learning during each weekend/module.

Training weekends can be booked individually enabling trainees to pick and choose modules best suited to supplement individual needs.

Each weekend has a different focus with specific directives. This clear module content and separation of training weekends, enables our trainees to pick and choose those course modules that are most applicable to their needs if not all of them. The full 6 modules in the complete programme covers every possible area needed to produce the highest level of competent Salsa Instructors.

With the LDA's carefully designed and thoroughly researched syllabus, we strive to raise and standardise a sufficiently proficient level of salsa teaching in the UK. The LDA course is now provided in a number of European countries whose data and statistics show that our courses improve not only teaching standards but also the satisfaction of the trainee, boosting their confidence and enjoyment along with those of their students.

All of our modules result in a certificate of training being issued to each trainee upon completion. Although entirely separate from the LDA and of absolutely no benefit to us financially, the ISTD examination for salsa teachers comes highly reccommended by us. Passing of the ISTD Salsa Teachers examination results in being awarded a reknowned and respected qualification from arguably the MOST respected dance body in the UK. The ISTD qualification proves a superior level of competency and ability which directly influences the level of wages achieved when alification achieving employment in your desired teaching job.

Clearly there is a huge advantage for any salsa teacher who holds a recognised ESPECIALLY from such an international respected establishment. But YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE EXAM. You can just simply focus in our Professional Trainning Programme. Maybe in the future if you need it or want to, you could take the exam.

The ISTD exam is booked separately to the LDA course and is absolutely not a compulsory undertaking when accessing the LDA modules.
