LDA Teacher-Training Programmes.

 

The LDA is the first academy in the UK to train and prepare Salsa teachers for the new ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) Salsa examination. The examination has been developed to provide a recognised and respected qualification that improves the standard of teaching to benefit individual dancers, teachers and communities. 

 

All of our courses can be tailored to suit you so pick and choose parts or take our full 6 month courses, whichever suit your needs best. Courses provide knowledge in both the theoretical and practical aspects of Salsa and we always aim to adapt our content where possible to suit our students individual needs.

 

The most comprehensive and complete training program is held at weekends over a 6 month course and covers everything required for the ISTD Exam. The exam is subject to the separate booking and passing of the associated ISTD qualification and IS NOT compulsory and it IS NOT included in the price of the 6 month program.The 6th month course will improve your knowledge of this dance in its various styles and boost confidence in teaching methods. Guiding effective teaching whilst observing good practices such as those relating to Health & Safety, etiquette, or understanding and support within the industry is of paramount importance. 

 

Whether wishing to take the ISTD qualification or not, all students will be able to use the Training accessed to support their effective teaching, and appropriate certificates can be supplied to support this after course completionand upon evidence supported by Susana Montero..

 

Experienced salsa teachers have the option of customising their programme, choosing only certain modules to take that cover their individual areas of weakness whilst not having to sit theentire course. 

 

If you do decide to take the ISTD exam feel confident that Susana Montero helped the ISTD when designing the qualification and study material  so she is absolutely the BEST person to train you for it and will take you as far as you want to go with her step by step teaching approach creating well rounded and confident salsa teachers. 

 

The 6 month course can be joined at any time (subject to spaces being available) as weekends are not needed to be taken in a specific order. Therefore even though you may have already missed the 'start' of the current 6 month course, you can still join and simply cover the weekends you have already missed at the start of the next training course. 

 

This program is suitable for:

• Those experienced Salsa teachers who don’t need an extensive training program and they are only interested in the exam process itself.

• Those Salsa teachers undertaking our custom program.

• Those  undertaking our 6 months training teachers program.

 

At the LDA we will prepare you for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Salsa exam.

We will go through all the stages of it including dance demonstrations, dance syllabus, oral exam, theory questions, figures break down and exam etiquette.
